All graduates of the program will meet all Federal Aviation Administration requirements to fly professionally and will achieve the following FAA certifications:
Private Pilot – Rotorcraft Helicopter
Instrument Pilot – Rotorcraft Helicopter
Commercial Pilot – Rotorcraft Helicopter
Certified Flight Instructor – Rotorcraft Helicopter
Instrument Flight Instructor – Rotorcraft Helicopter
The associate degree has been structured to permit student to transfer to the California State University system with the general educational requirements met. Students will earn 39 units applicable toward the 48 unit minimum general education requirement. This program will allow the student population to achieve both their occupational and transfer objectives through award of the degree program.
NOTE:
inexperienced graduates are not typically hired after completion of the program in most industry segments, except for the position of flight instructor. As such, this program qualifies candidates to immediately perform the duties of flight instructor –rotorcraft helicopter upon completion.
To achieve the associate of science degree, students must complete both the Area of Emphasis Requirements and the General Education requirements listed below:

*Students may complete the above pattern of courses within the stated rules to be eligible to receive General Education Certification prior to transfer. This certification requires all CSU campuses to apply all 39 units toward the 48 unit minimum general education requirement.
American Institutions Requirement
All CSU graduates must complete coursework in U.S. History, Constitution, and American Ideals as required by Section 40404 of Title 5 of the Administrative Code. This requirement may be fulfilled at COS for 22 of the 23 CSU campuses by completing GOVT 5 and either HIST 17,18 as part of the General Education Certification. Some CSU campuses will not allow these courses to meet both the general education requirement and the American Institutions requirement. See a COS counselor for details.
