AERO 215
AERO 215 – FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (8.0 Units)
The flight instructor training course will give the student the necessary skills and training leading to issuance of both the certified flight instructor and instrument instructor rating. The lecture portion of this course is approved for distance education format.
All training is conducted in a rotorcraft – helicopter.
Students also fulfill the FAA requirements to instruct in the Robinson R-22 and R-44 helicopter through additional training and attendance at the Robinson Helicopter Company factory authorized training course. The lecture portion of this course is approved for distance education format.

Eligibility for enrollment
A person must hold at least a 3
rd
class medical certificate prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the Flight Instructor Certification Course.
Must have completed the Advanced Commercial Pilot Certification Course.
Must be at-least 18 years of age at end of course
Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
Person must weigh less than 205 pounds prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the Flight Instructor Certification Course.
OR
Have a current and valid commercial pilot certificate – rotorcraft helicopter
Have a current and valid instrument pilot certificate – rotorcraft helicopter
Person must weigh less than 205 pounds prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the Flight Instructor Certification Course.
Have logged at least 160 hours in a rotorcraft – helicopter.
Have logged at least 20 hours in the Robinson R-44 helicopter and at-least 25 hours in Robinson R-22.

Flight training must include the following areas of operation:

Completion Standard
The student MUST demonstrate through written tests, practical tests, and appropriate records, that he/she meets the knowledge, skill, and experience requirements necessary to obtain a Flight Instructor Certificate and Flight Instructor with an instrument rating. Each student must satisfactorily complete an oral and practical exam conducted by the FAA (Or Designated Representative). Upon completion of Practical Exam, student will receive additional training to instruct in the Robinson R-22 and Robinson R-44 aircraft to meet SFAR 73 (Special Federal Aviation Regulation #73 requirements).
