A.S. Degree Helicopter Minimize
Associate Science Degree - Professional Pilot (Helicopter)
The mission of the College of the Sequoias Associate Science Degree in Professional Pilot – Helicopter (PP-H) will prepare students to enter the industry as professional flight instructors.  This degree course requires no previous experience or knowledge

In addition to the helicopter training courses, the Associate Science degree will provide students the breadth requirements necessary to transfer to the California State University (CSU) system after completion.   The College of Sequoias has a long standing tradition of preparing students to enter the CSU system to complete coursework towards a bachelor’s degree in most disciplines.

While an associate's degree certainly is not required to fly helicopters, it will give graduates an advantage over other applicants.  The flight training courses are taught first, so students can achieve their flight instructor ratings and begin building experience while taking general education breadth requirements.  We know that while many people have to work part-time through college, this program allows students to work in their profession while paying for college.

This course prepares students to transfer to any 4 year university, so students can continue building experience as a professional flight instructor while taking courses that lead to a bachelor's degree.

It is anticipated that students will be able to earn their bachelor's degree and have over 1,000 hours of flight experience which is more than enough to qualify for higher paying jobs in the gulf-coast and/or sightseeing tour industry.
