 AERO 210 PRIVATE PILOT HELICOPTER
Description
 
The private pilot certificate allows flying passengers for personal transportation and business.  May not "fly for hire or compensation" but may share expenses equally with passengers.
 
Course Objective
 
The student will obtain the aeronautical knowledge and experience necessary to meet the Federal Aviation Administration Requirements for the issuance of a Private Pilot Certificate. 
 
Eligibility for enrollment: 
  • A person must hold at least a 3rd class medical certificate prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the Private Pilot Certification Course.
  • Must be at-least 17 years of age at end of course
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language. 
  • Person must weigh less than 205 pounds prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the Private Pilot Certification Course
 
Aeronautical Knowledge Training
 
35 hours of ground training in the following subjects:
  1. Applicable Federal Aviation Regulations for private pilot privileges, limitations, and flight operations
  2. Accident reporting requirements of the NTSB
  3. pplicable subjects of the “Aeronautical Information Manual” and the appropriate FAA advisory circulars
  4. Aeronautical charts for VFR navigation using Pilotage, dead reckoning, and navigations systems
  5. Radio communications procedures
  6. Recognition of critical weather situations from the ground and in flight, windshear avoidance, and the procurement and use of aeronautical weather reports and forecasts
  7. Safe and efficient operation of aircraft, including collision avoidance, and recognition and avoidance of wake turbulence
  8. Effects of density altitude on takeoff and climb performance
  9. Weight and balance computations
  10. Principles of aerodynamics, powerplants, and aircraft systems
  11. Aeronautical decision making and judgment
  12. Preflight action that includes: How to obtain information on runway lengths at airports of intended use, data on takeoff and landing distances, weather reports and forecasts, and fuel requirements and how to plan for alternates if the planned flight cannot be completed or delays are encountered
 
Flight Training
 
55 Hours Total
30 Dual (Instruction Given)
15 (Instructor preflight briefing and post flight critique and evaluation)
10 Solo
 
Flight training must include the following areas of operation:
 
1.      Preflight preparation
2.      Preflight procedures
3.      Air Traffic Control clearances and procedures
4.      Flight by reference to the instruments
5.      Navigation Systems
6.      Instrument approach procedures
7.      Emergency procedures
8.      Postflight procedures
 
Completion Standard
 
The student MUST demonstrate through written tests, practical tests, and appropriate records, that he/she meets the knowledge, skill, and experience requirements necessary to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate. Each student must satisfactorily complete an oral and practical exam conducted by the FAA (Or Designated Representative).
