The total cost of this training is approximately $74,332 in addition to normal ‘per-unit’ tuition. Through the Post 9/11 GI Bill, you are entitled to receive this training for free! Your Chapter 33 GI Bill benefits will pay the flight training fees and tuition for these courses. To receive 100% of the benefit, you must have completed 36 months of active duty. Students are only required to pay for books, and supplies of which there is a $1,000 per year book stipend through Chapter 33. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to fly a helicopter, this is truly the chance of a lifetime!
Courses are structured so that when you get out, you have your commercial pilot certificate with instrument instructor ratings. Through our program, you get to take the flight courses first, then fulfill the general education requirements after achieving your pilot certificate. The program consists of 5 core courses, Aero 210, 211, 212, 213, 214 and 215. Each course leads to a pilot certificate and/or rating.
Through the Post 9/11 GI BIll, most sailors have 36 months of entitlement. For part-time courses, the entitlement is pro-rated based on a 12 unit full-time semester. For example, Aero 210 is a 5 unit class completed in 5 months. A normal 12 unit course load would consume 5 months of entitlement. Because Aero 210 is only 5 units, only 2 1/2 months of entitlement would be used for Aero 210 because 5 units is about 1/2 of a 12 unit full-time course. Contact us if you have questions.
To help accommodate sailors working on-base, we are offering the courses in an extended ‘night/weekend’ academy format. Students will attend ground training every Wednesday night 18:00 – 20:00. In aircraft ‘one-on-one’ flight training is offered through flexible scheduling. NAS Lemoore personnel will be given priority scheduling for a minimum of two flight blocks per week (Each flight block is 2 hours) INCLUDING WEEKENDS!!! The flight school will be open Saturday AND Sunday to accommodate sailors that want to fly during the weekend. We allow students to select their flight blocks each week, so you can make the program work around your schedule. This is the only program of its kind!
Our flight training campus is located in Tulare, California (Approximately 35 minute drive from Lemoore). Each class will be offered once per semester as follows:
AERO 210 SPRING SEMESTER 2011 AERO 211 FALL SEMESTER 2011 AERO 212/213 SPRING SEMESTER 2012 AERO 214/215 FALL SEMESTER 2012
*If the program is successful, we will start another program in Fall of 2011 so students that may get deployed can fall into another class. Our goal is to offer an AERO class every semester so sailors can complete the program during their enlistment period.
Space is limited, and all courses are first-come, first-serve; so let us know if you’re interested as classes will fill-up fast! Use the contact form on the left side of this page to contact us and get started. Be sure to write ‘active duty NAS Lemoore’ in the message section.
