*Students may complete the above pattern of courses within the stated rules to be eligible to receive General Education Certification prior to transfer. This certification requires all CSU campuses to apply all 39 units toward the 48 unit minimum general education requirement.
American Institutions Requirement
All CSU graduates must complete coursework in U.S. History, Constitution, and American Ideals as required by Section 40404 of Title 5 of the Administrative Code. This requirement may be fulfilled at COS for 22 of the 23 CSU campuses by completing GOVT 5 and either HIST 17,18 as part of the General Education Certification. Some CSU campuses will not allow these courses to meet both the general education requirement and the American Institutions requirement. See a COS counselor for details.
